Transport Policy

Travel Arrangements:
  • Kirikiriroa & St Peter’s Scout Group does not arrange travel to and from Scouting activities whenever possible.
  • Whānau are encouraged to form relationships with our group members and carpool and share travel costs.
Involvement of Kaiārahi and Adult Helpers:
  • Kaiārahi and Adult Helpers must be police vetted members of the group.
  • They should always be two deep with youth during transport.
Transport Context:

In a transport context, the two-deep rule can be achieved in the following ways:

  • Two Kaiārahi or Adult Helpers with one or more youth members.
  • One Kaiārahi or Adult Helper with two or more youth members.
Occasional Group-Organized Transport:
  • On rare occasions, for example traveling to the Northland Regatta, the group may organise transport.
  • In such instances, a Group Leader must sight evidence of a valid driving license, warrant of fitness, and insurance for every driver and vehicle in the convoy.
Transport Costs and Koha:
  • Whānau transport costs are not covered by camp fees.
  • We encourage whānau to offer a koha (voluntary contribution) to the driver to help cover the transportation expenses.
