The New Zealand Sea Scout Handbook is produced by the National Sea Scout and Water Activities Panel of The Scout Association of New Zealand as a guide to be used in the training of New Zealand Sea Scouts. It is not intended that the handbook should cover every aspect of Sea Scouting but is supplementary to the N.Z. Scout Handbooks.
The Committee gratefully acknowledges the kind permission of the Controller of Her Majesty's Stationery Office for the use of material from the Admiralty Manuals of Seamanship; the N.Z. Government Marine Department for permission to reprint from their publication "Safety in Small Craft"; and British, Canadian and United States Scout authorities for material drawn from their Sea Scout publications. Also to Sea Spray magazine.
In the preparation of this book the Committee had the generous co-operation of experienced Sea Scout Leaders from many parts of New Zealand. Much of the material in this book was prepared by them, and for their invaluable help we extend out thanks.
